How it Works

Welcome to Distance Learning with Kimber Academy!

We are pleased that you have interest in this great way to educate your family.

If you choose to apply and register, we will add your name to our private Distance Learning Facebook page where you can get updates and share your learning experiences with other Distance Learning families.  You can also post photos and videos of your family, and your students can share the creative work they are doing throughout the school year.

The annual Distance Learning application fee is $50 per family.

Here is how Distance Learning works:

The system we are using for the Kimber Academy Distance Learning classes this year is called zoom.us, and is interactive!  Students can talk directly to the instructor to ask questions or make comments just like any other student in class!  They will be tuning in with hundreds of other students across the country at the same time, and they will be able to see each other as they ask questions and participate.

  • The 2017-2018 school year begins the day after Labor Day, September 5.

  • The Core subjects are held 3 days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, from September through May.

  • Hours are normally 8:00 a.m. to noon, Mountain Standard Time.

Where to Begin:

  • First, decide how you will be watching the classes.  You can use a computer, laptop, or cell phone.  Download the FREE zoom.us program onto the device(s) that you will be using.  For computers, register with zoom.us using an email address.  For a cell phone, register with zoom.us with the cell phone number.

  • Then go to the Kimber Academy website and create a personal account, if you do not already have one.

  • After logging in, go to the "Distance Learning" tab on the upper right-hand corner of the KA home page and choose "Application & Tuition" from the drop-down menu.

    * (See note below if you live near a Kimber Academy -- application procedures are different.)

  • On the Application and Tuition page, pay the Application Fee ($50 per family) through PayPal.

  • Once you have been accepted, follow the directions for setting up automatic monthly payments with PayPal by clicking here.

    • $150 per family for the Senior Class (ages 12 and up)

    • $150 per family for the Junior Class (ages approximately 8 - 11)

    • $250 per family for BOTH Senior and Junior classes

  • You will need specific curriculum for each age group.  To see and order online the curriculum for the 2017-2018 year click here

  • The first Kimber Academy Testing week is held the second week of September.  Each diagnostic exam costs $30, with free shipping and handling.  For more information and to order online with the National Testing Center click here.  Additional diagnostic exams are offered in January and April/May.

  • On the KA home page, click on the DISTANCE LEARNING TAB.  Choose from the drop-down which class you have registered for.

Inasmuch as students will be seen by others, they should “look their best” when they join in each morning.  This program is set up just as if they were going to school each day, and Kimber Academy dress codes apply.

Remember that you can discontinue Distance Learning at any time if it is not working for your family for some reason.  Notify the Distance Learning personnel by emailing:  kimberacademynational@gmail.com.   Your account and access to the classes will be suspended the same day. You may also use this email for questions or comments about your Distance Learning experience.

Proximity to Local Academies

Please note there is a different set up if you live within 15 miles of a local Kimber Academy.  If you are not sure if there is an Academy near you, click here to see all Academy locations.  If you live near an Academy and want to do Distance Learning at home instead of attending the Academy, click here for registration and payment instructions that apply to the Distance Learning policies.
